HAL   LACY

Artist / Designer

Hal Lacy is a multidisciplinary visual artist, fabricator, and designer whose work is rooted in the

belief that every aspect of life is art made visible, meaningful, and shared. With over 25 years of

experience spanning general construction, furniture design, and creative fabrication, Hal brings a

deeply hands-on approach to artistic expression—blending craftsmanship with conceptual vision.

From 2020 to 2025, Lacy worked as a fabricator and carpenter specializing in custom furniture

design, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that merge functionality with artistic integrity. Previously,

he managed KYOI Design–Art Gallery & Event Space in West Hollywood and Downtown Los

Angeles (2015–2020), where he curated exhibitions and cultivated a community-centered

creative environment. His earlier work includes designing and fabricating theatrical backdrops

and props for middle and high schools as an independent contractor, as well as contributing to

large-scale public art events such as the 125th Pasadena Rose Parade.

Hal’s artistic career also includes collaborations in the fashion and commercial design world,

notably with Ed Hardy, where he contributed artwork and product designs, as well as trade show

installations. His work has been recognized in publications, including Davis Publications’

Exploring Visual Design (3rd edition), and he has participated in prestigious programs such as

the California Contemporary Art Collection through the State Senate.

In addition to his visual art practice, Hal has expanded his creative repertoire through culinary

arts training, exploring food as another medium of artistic expression. He is proficient in

industry-standard tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, and Microsoft Office.

Hal studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and Otis College of Art and Design in

Los Angeles, and he is a graduate of Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA).

Across all disciplines, his work reflects a lifelong dedication to creating, building, and

transforming ideas into tangible, impactful experiences.
